Joe Rogan is an undeniable giant on Spotify. His show, the Joe Rogan Experience (JRE), is one of the most listened to podcasts on the platform.
According to Newsweek, JRE gets about 11 million listeners for each episode. That is massive when you consider the fact that each episode lasts for three hours on average, with about four episodes every week.
Business Insider, citing a leaked newsletter within Spotify, also claimed that the podcast accounted for about 5% of the company’s total podcast listenings.
2020: Joe Rogan joins Spotify
It is incredible to think that JRE is pulling such huge numbers less than three years after officially joining the platform.
Prior to 2020, the show had been running for over 10 years on Joe’s website and YouTube before becoming exclusive to Spotify in a $100 million licensing deal.
JRE debuted on Spotify with a five-hour interview with Duncan Trussell on September 1, 2020. The first studio episode on the streaming service was also released on September 8, 2020, with guest Adam Curry.
Joe Rogan has gone on to interview hundreds of other guests since then. Some of his most famous interviews on Spotify have been with Elon Musk, Quentin Tarantino, Bernie Sanders, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Edward Snowden, Kanye West, Mike Tyson, Kevin Hart, and many others.
The Joe Rogan Experience has had over 2000 episodes so far and doesn’t look to be slowing down anytime soon.
